Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions that come up most often.

What can I upload?

mp4, mov, mkv or webm, up to 4 GB per file, at most 10 sources and 180 minutes of source in total. You must own or be authorised to use the material.

How long does a render take?

A 30-second montage from a few short clips usually takes a few minutes. Story templates and long durations take longer because they separate vocals and build more captions. The queue page shows the number of jobs ahead and an estimate.

Why is my video only available for 24 hours?

Free outputs are deleted 24 hours after rendering to keep storage costs down. Paid plans keep videos longer; download anything you want to keep.

How does the credit system work?

Each render costs credits based on duration and template, shown before you submit. Failed jobs are refunded automatically. New accounts receive a small signup grant.

Does BeatCut transcribe dialogue?

No. Captions are AI-written text based on the visuals and your prompt, not a transcript of what is said.

Can I use the output commercially?

You own the cut you create, subject to the rights you hold in the footage and music. Library tracks are CC0 or CC BY; for CC BY you must keep the credit we generate.

What happens to my uploads?

They are deleted when the job finishes, and after 24 hours for drafts. Only the finished video is kept for the retention period of your plan.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Open Settings, then the billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; credits already granted stay usable.
